Knightline Prepares for Competition

Since the beginning of the season, Knightline has been preparing for their competitions. One of the many competitions on their agenda is the St. Charles Competition at St. Charles High on January 25.

To get prepared for this competition, Knightline has been practicing every day after school and on Sunday nights since late

September. The team has been

getting feedback from their coaches to make room for improvement. The competition in January is the start of the competing season for the girls.

“They have been pushing us a lot to do our absolute best, because they know how good we can do,” freshman Madison Cliffton said.

For this particular competition, the Varsity Knightline team will be competing in the Jazz and Hip-Hop categories. Since the two categories are so different from each other, the team is trying hard to perfect both categories. Knightline is looking at this first competition of the year as an opportunity for improvement if they do not place in a category. They are looking to the judges for constructive criticism to help them.

“I’m mostly looking forward to hearing what the judges think of our dances and what they say we can improve on,” senior Rachel Burlison said.

Knightline has only competed in two competitions this season so far; one at Lindbergh, and another at Illinois State University,  placing in both competitions. January 25 is the first of the competitions this year, and it will be an essential part in helping knightline prepare for the bigger competitions. Llater in the season, Knightline will also be traveling to Kansas City and Florida to compete against other schools.

“Competitions are important to us because it shows how well we are doing and that all of our hard work can pay off,” Burlison said.
