FHSD to Host Screening of a Teen Filmmaker’s Short Film about Prescription Drug Abuse

 

The Francis Howell School District, in partnership with the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse – St. Louis Area (NCADA), will hold three special screenings of “Out of Reach,” a short documentary about medicine abuse created by a teen filmmaker. Click here for more information and dates of the screenings. 4/15 Henry

The FHN Athletic Booster Club is giving $5,000 in Scholarships for 2014. Seniors that have played sports in High School and that have parents that are members of the Athletic Booster Club in 2013-1014 are eligible for these Scholarships (Not to late to join Booster Club). Application and Criteria are available in the Guidance Office. Applications and essays are due by today. Contact Chris Braudis ([email protected]) for more information. 4/4 Braudis

Francis Howell School District Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship Offered by Sodexo Food Service

The Francis Howell School District and Sodexo Food Service are committed to increasing participation in service at all levels.  This scholarship is offered to graduating seniors who have participated in Family and Consumer Sciences program while attending high school.  Five (5) $1,000 scholarships per high school are available.  A committee of Francis Howell School District teachers will review all applications and make their recommendations to Sodexo, who will then make the final decision.  The recipients of this scholarship will be notified in May 2014. You can pick up an application in Room 02 from Mrs. Just or from the guidance office.  Completed applications need to be turned in to the guidance office or to Mrs. Just (room 2) no later than today. Incomplete and late applications will NOT be considered. 4/4 Just
Student Council Scholarship information is now available in room 133.  If you are a senior, currently involved in Stuco, and planning to attend college this fall, you are eligible. applications are due in the main office by April 18th.  Three merit based scholarships will be offered for $500 each and three financial based scholarships each for $500 as well.

The Science Club is offering a $500.00 scholarship.Applications are available in the Guidance office. All paperwork is due by Friday April 25th at 3 pm. 4/25 Kelly
Attention SENIORS:  PTO will sponsor (3) Senior PTO Scholarships this spring, totaling $2,500.00.  For seniors to be eligible to apply, they must have a parent/guardian who is a current 2013/14 paid member in the FHN PTO. You may still join the PTO for $15.00; applications to join PTO are in the MAIN office.   Applications for the scholarships are in the GUIDANCE Office.  Submission due date is MAY 1, 2014. 5/1 Doerhoff

With the weather turning cooler, we are reminded that winter will be here before long, including the frozen white stuff (snow) that is both looked forward to and dreaded.  This is a reminder that we have snow days built into our school calendar, and we request that vacations not be scheduled on these days when we may have school to make up for missed days due to snow or other inclement weather.  Make up dates are listed below:

FREE Community Appliance and Electronics Recycling onApril 12th

Do you have broken appliances or old electronics that you want to get rid of? The Francis Howell School District (FHSD), in partnership with the Midwest Recycling Center, will be hosting a free community-wide appliance and electronics recycling event onSaturday, April 12, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the FHSD Burbes Service Center located at 4606 Central School Road in St. Charles. Click here for more information. FHN All Knighter Driven To Give Test Drive Fundraiser

Saturday, April 12 -10 am to 4 pm-Dave Sinclair Lincoln

4760 N. Service Rd., St. Peters, MO. Test drive a car and they will donate $20 for every test drive per household up to $8,000!

It is a fundraiser and they do not pressure you for sales and there is

nothing to buy.  Even the hot dogs and soda are free! We can’t do it without you, your family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances.  Put it on your facebook and twitter sites. We need over 300 drivers to make it a success.  Minimum age to drive is 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.  If you have any questions, please contact Sherry Stack at [email protected].  Thank you for your support!

On Wednesday, April 23rdall juniors will be taking the ACT.  This is part of the district’s new assessment plan and aligns with the Department of Education in Missouri.  There is no cost to students. Contact Dr. Chris Birch if you have any questions. 4/23 Birch

2014 Prom: Prom is on Saturday, May 17that 6:00 p.m. at the St. Charles Convention Center. Prom tickets will be sold on the following dates before school 6:50 a.m.-7:10a.m., during all lunches, and after school from 2:20p.m.-2:45p.m.  Students who have fines will not be able to purchase tickets until the fines have been paid. A guest form must be filled out for any guest who does not attend FHN- forms will be available outside room 8 and in the main office. Guest tickets must be purchased in room 8 before or after school during ticket sales.

Schedule pick up will be in the lower level of the school. Please enter through the gym lobby next to the track. Students must have yearbook/ID pictures taken, have immunization records checked by nurse, turn in health form (signed by a parent/guardian) and pay any outstanding fines due from the previous school year before a stu-dent may pick up their schedule. Parking permits may also be taken care of at this time. Juniors and Seniors who wish to apply for a parking per-mit must have no outstanding fines, no parking violations from the previous year and have the necessary paperwork completed for the district’s drug testing program.
