STL Attack Plays Alabama Outlawz

The St. Louis Attack will play the Alabama Outlawz May 2 in the Family Arena at 7:30 p.m. The Attack will have to win this game to keep their championship dreams alive. They are 5-0 in the league. If they win the game against the Outlawz and remain first in the league they will host the X-Bowl in June.

“The goal is a championship; anything less is a failure,” owner of the Attack Andrew Haines said.

The Attack are 5-0 and on top of their division with their win over the Florida Marine Raiders with a score of 49-46 on the 26. They have high expectations for their season this year with a lot of new faces on the team. The team will have to work through injuries and stay healthy. They will also have to shut down one of the best players in the league.

“Since there are only five teams in the league, every game is important,” Haines said.

In the last showing against Savannah Stream, the Outlawz won 82-8. According to the Outlawz, quarterback Garrett Sutphen is fast and has a good arm. He has 41 competitions 587 yards passing and 11 touchdowns. Outlawz have the best wide receiver and second best kick returner in the league Marsellos Wilder with 21 receptions and 322 yards with eight receiving touchdowns and 85 yards returning. Week one, Wilder was named X factor of the game in the 44-43 win against the Georgia Rampage. Jerrard Jones, linebacker for the Outlawz, is their top defensive player with 19 tackles and 2 sacks.

“They (Outlawz) have an experienced QB. We need to shut him down,” head coach Chris McKinney said.

The Attack has played five games this season. One of them was the first showing against the Outlawz that was in Birmingham, Alabama. The score was 58-39 with an Attack win. The defense scored the first ten points with an interception and a safety. They only allowed seven points in the first half. The first touchdowns of the game were through the air. Quarterback Mike McMullen was named X factor of the game. To end the game, Darryl Grady Jr. returned an onside kick to put the game away with a touchdown.

“Alabama is a very good team, and they’re going be one of the top teams,” McKinney said.
