The Unpredictable NFL

The NFL has been as unpredictable as is gets through the first three weeks of this season. From the New England Patriots losing to the Miami Dolphins to the Green Bay Packers losing to the Detroit Lions, poor teams have beaten great teams en route to a fantastic first three weeks of the NFL season. If someone were to tell you that the only three undefeated teams after Week 3 were the Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Arizona Cardinals, you would’ve been shocked; I know that I would’ve been.

The Bengals were projected to be one of the best teams in the NFL, but it was not foreseen that they would be this good. They have beaten the Ravens, Falcons and Titans by a combined score of 66-33. They’ve doubled the scores of their opponents, two of whom will likely make the playoffs this season.

The Eagles, on the other hand, have fed off of weaker opponents. The three opponents that they’ve faced are a combined 2-7, and none of them look like they’ll make the playoffs at this rate. This doesn’t show as much for the Eagles’ playing ability, as for the easiness of their schedule so far.

Lastly, the Arizona Cardinals have been the biggest shock of this season. They won a close game against the Chargers Week 1, and have beaten the Giants and 49ers by an average of 10 points. The Giants won the Super Bowl three years ago, while the 49ers appeared in the Big Game two years ago and were just one game away from another appearance last year.

The NFL has definitely been fun to watch this season, but, in my expert opinion, there can be only one winner. This one winner will be the New England Patriots. They will rise above their “one-dimensional” offense and their “inexperienced” defense to win the Super Bowl this season. This is the year that the Patriots, led by Mr. Belichick, will finally put together another winning season, proving that they are one of the greatest dynasties in NFL. I am Jacob Lintner, and I approve this message.
