Covington’s Cover: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

Novel: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

Genre: Paranormal Fiction

Pages: 466

Publisher: Simon and Schustertumd

Author: Michelle Hodkins

After waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there, Mara Dyer finds out that her three best friends are dead after the building they were in collapsed. Mara leaves the accident unharmed and confused as to why she wasn’t killed. She assumes there must be more to the story, and she is right. Mara discovers things about herself that she never would have imagined. The kind of power that she holds is incredible, she’s scared of herself and is forced to shut herself off from the world. No one knows what’s really going on with her, they think she’s going crazy. Mara starts to believe them, upset at the world she seeks answers to the mystery that is her life.

All is lost until she meets Ben, the endearing and mysterious british heartthrob, he’s anything but typical. They soon find out that they have more in common than what meets the eye. Through this nail-biting novel, you learn the true meaning of sacrifice, and why it’s important to treat others how you like to be treated.

There’s a distinct bond with the characters that leaves you turning the page in a cold sweat to find out their fate. This is definitely my favorite paranormal fiction novel. It’s the perfect mix of romance, comedy and suspense.

We come to know Mara Dyer through this trilogy, I myself have  the first book of the trilogy and I’m already hooked. I look forward to reading the second, The Evolution of Mara Dyer. The last of the three, The Retribution of Mara Dyer has yet to be released.
