The new Homecoming King and Queen was announced during the halftime show at the Homecoming game versus FHC on Friday, Sept. 22. Senior Connor Gallagher was announced as King and senior Jamie Sneed as Queen. This is the first year Gallagher and Sneed have been able to win King and Queen, but Gallagher had been on court before during his freshman and sophomore year. Sneed has never been on Homecoming court before, but was on Snowcoming court her sophomore year.

“I feel pretty excited, mostly that we’re winning the football game,” Gallagher said

The announcement comes after voting complications caused a redo in the initial voting round, to see who would make it on the ballot for court. Regardless of these setbacks, the Homecoming court announcement is still one of the most exciting parts of the week for the students involved in court and the rest of the school. Both the King and Queen seemed excited at the announcement.

“I’m kind of shocked,” Sneed said. “I really didn’t think it would be me. I thought the couple was going to win.”

In addition to the King and Queen announcement, the halftime show included a performance from Studline and their Knightline dance partners. To make matters even better, the Knights went on to win the game against FHC, 35 to 18. The next time the court will be together again is Saturday, during the Homecoming dance.

“[My favorite part] Since I’m in StuCo, is getting to see the general product [of the dance] and working with all the [StuCo] members,” Sneed said.

Elliot, James and Evie Johnson crowned Gallagher and Sneed as King and Queen. Elliot, James and Evie are the children of English teacher Kristen Johnson and Spanish teacher Ryan Johnson. There was some confusion when Elliot and James were announced as the sons of Science teacher Matthew Riffee and his wife Amanda Riffee.
