The North Street Coffeehouse is an annual tradition at FHN. Coffeehouse began in 2004 and gives students the opportunity to express themselves through written art and spoken word. This event is held in the learning commons, and english classes get to go down to watch during an assigned hour over the course of two days. Typically 20-22 people perform during those two days.

“[My favorite part is] the talent that we get and what the students get out of the performances,” Angie Davis, media specialist said.

Seniors Maddy Wood and Audrey Forth are performing this year for the first time at coffeehouse. They performed the song “Titanium” by David Guetta. Both Forth and Wood sang, while Forth played the piano as well.

“Sharing our love of music with other people and making memories with good friends is what I’m looking forward to most,” Forth said.

Both Forth and Wood are members of the Knighsound choir at FHN and began singing at a young age. Performing in coffeehouse has always been something that they have wanted to do before graduation but have always been apprehensive. Forth convinced Wood that it would be a good idea and they decided to try out at the last minute. They prepared on their own and together multiple times a week leading up to the day of their performance.

“My favorite part of singing is how you can be super creative with it and find who you are through the music,” Wood said.
