From Sept. 10 through the 14, FHN will be having its Homecoming Spirit Week. From meme madness to jersey rivalries, there are many ways that students can participate in the school’s once-a-semester event. Here are five ways that any student can participate in the FHN Spirit Week.

1. Stay updated and participate with the daily events.                                       

Each day of Spirit Week has a certain theme. Students can participate by dressing up, creating themed items to cart around, or even just hyping up the event and giving friends costume ideas. The daily events for the current Spirit Week goes as follows:

• Monday: Decades Day
  • Time to take a blast to the past! On decades day, students can dress up as people from a past decade. Seniors get to dress up as 1960’s kids, juniors get to dress up as 70’s kids, sophomores are 80’s kids and freshmen are 90’s kids. Go get your boom boxes and hippie outfits.
• Tuesday: Meme day
  • Feel free to participate by dressing up as your favorite meme or vine.
• Wednesday: Jersey Day
  • Root, root for the home team! Or don’t. Jersey day is the perfect time to address those sports rivalries by rooting for your favorite team.
• Thursday: Black and Gold Day
  • Today is the day to support your school. Students who wish to participate should wear any black and gold FHN apparel that they have. Go wild! If you’re a senior, you get the privilege of wearing your very own senior toga.
• Friday: Class Colors
  • The day that you’ve all been waiting for. Wear as much of your class color as you can to support your class! Freshmen are purple, sophomores are blue, juniors are red and seniors are green.

2. Participate in the 1st Hour Selfie Contest.

• Every morning, take a moment to gather the class and take a class selfie. All class photos can be submitted into a daily vote at FHNtoday.com, where students can vote for their favorite class selfie.

3. Donate money to pie a teacher.

• Have a teacher who’s been giving you too much homework lately? Well, you’re just in luck! Up until Sept. 12, you can donate money to HOSA to pie your favorite teacher. The teacher who receives the most donations to their name gets a nice pie straight to the face during the Spirit Week pep assembly.

4. Get Wild During the FHN Pep Assembly.

• On Friday, FHN will be having a pep assembly at the beginning of the day to celebrate the end of Spirit Week and the upcoming Homecoming dance. You should wear your class colors and be careful not to wear the colors of another class. During the assembly, feel free to get loud and wild as games are played and performances are played out before your eyes by the FHN band, Knightline, Color Guard and other school performance groups. This is the event that all students should look forward to!

5. Prepare for the next Spirit Week.

• FHN will have another Spirit Week next semester, the week of the Snowcoming dance. You can prepare for the next Spirit Week by suggesting day themes to your class or grade StuCo representative, as well as suggest activities and games to play during the Pep Assembly. Suggestions are welcome.
