On Aug. 13, Francis Howell School District updated their mask policy for this coming school year.

For students 7th grade and up, masks will be optional in schools but strongly advised while indoors. Masks must be worn at all times on the bus, regardless of the student’s vaccination status or age. While outdoors, masks are not required for anyone.

“The Delta variant has gained traction in parts of the state and now accounts for the vast majority of COVID cases in Missouri,” an email sent out to the families of the Francis Howell School District said. “Local health officials are reporting higher rates of cases among children – especially those too young to be vaccinated.”

To best ensure the safety of all students, this policy will be revisited no later than Sept. 17. Revisions could include the institution of masks full time or more leniency on the usage of masks for lower grade levels.
