Detective Pikachu Returns is a game released on Oct. 6 on the Nintendo Switch family of systems. This is a sequel to the original for the 3DS about Tim Goodman who comes to Rhyme City to investigate the disappearance of his father Harry Goodman after a car accident. When Tim arrives in Rhyme City he finds his father’s Pikachu claiming he is Detective Pikachu. Tim is the only one able to understand Detective Pikachu. While Trying to figure out the mystery of his father they meet face to face with the legendary Pokémon Mewtwo.

“I have seen the new trailers for the game but the thing that stands out to me the most is just like seeing Pikachu again with the new voice lines,” Senior Sophia McClure said. “I just think Pikachu is the main draw to the game.”

In this game players are back in the shoes of Detective Pikachu trying to figure out many mysteries including the mystery of Detective Pikachu and the mystery of Harry Goodman. The player will play as Tim and Pikachu solving mysteries where Tim talks to people and Pikachu talks to Pokémon and they use the info gathered to piece together the mystery and solve it. But the player won’t be able to do it alone and will need to utilize the powers of other Pokémon to help them solve the mystery. For example, in a trailer, it was shown that the player will be able to use a Growlithe to track down scents or use Luxray to see through walls. The Player will meet many vibrant people and Pokémon to interact with and many mysteries to solve to find Harry.

“I think the fact that you can use other Pokémon to help solve cases is pretty cool,” Senior Max Ramirez said.
