How Local Events Foster Community

The Fete de Glace ice carving festival had their 25th annual competition on January 27, 2024. The event hosts both individual and group ice carving competitions and has other shows such as fire spinning. In this video, performer, Jamie Sims, speaks on her experiences with fire spinning and how she enjoys bringing people together when she performs. A long time competitor at Fete de Glace, Gary Hall, explains how he began ice carving, what his inspiration for his pieces this year were and why he enjoys working with others. St. Charles locals, Dan and Susan Newberry describe what it’s been like coming to the festival year after year and how more than anything, the festival and other events Main Street hosts bring the community together.
