Student council officers and cabinet were given the task to come up with something new to make students get involved and understand Personal Responsibility In Daily Effort.
“PRIDE week’s purpose is to inform students of good values that are associated with having pride toward the school,” cabinet member Emily Walker said.
This is a first ever PRIDE week for North, so there is a lot of planning involved.
“First step was coming up with the idea, next was designing a PRIDE shirt, and then advertising the week so that students will get involved,” officer Sarah Semmel said.
Monday is respect day. Students can send a note to anyone in the school that they respect. Tuesday is character day. Students can dress up like their role model. Wednesday is commitment day. Students will decide on a project to better the schools in their homerooms. Thursday is effort day. Teachers reward students for showing outstanding effort. And last but not least, Friday is PRIDE day. Students can wear their black and gold attire.
“I think some won’t understand at first, but once they hear the guest speaker on Wednesday and get into the week, they’ll understand the point we want to get across,” Walker said.
