There were over 1200 people under tents in the FHN gym on Saturday night. Starting at 7 pm was the 2009 Shanghai Knights homecoming dance. A lot of work went into the dance starting in July, from homecoming hallways to setting up decorations.
“We’ve been hard at work since July,” Student Council President Crystal Friedman said, “After we chose our committees it was a lot of preparation and everything we had to plan for that week. The day of homecoming is always the hardest, we worked from about 8 a.m. to about noon. We decorated the gym and we wanted to make the dance as enjoyable to as many people as possible.”
This year Student Council hired former student, Andrew Harilson’s father as the DJ.
“I thought the music was pretty good,” Junior Ben Hess said, “I think they played to much Michael Jackson and I didn’t like the music that was remixed, but other than that I liked it.
Through all the hard work, the dance was a success according to Friedman.
“I wish we would have been more prepared for when the event actually happened so we wouldn’t be so stressed when the day came but i think we pulled it off rather nicely,” Friedman said.
