Two weeks into the 2010-2011 school year, Amelia Riney was introduced to Howell North’s teaching staff. The teacher that was previously in her teaching position took another position elsewhere leaving her position open. Riney was offered the job on Friday and was in the classroom teaching the following Monday.
“I love it here,” Riney said. “Everyone is extremly friendly and very helpful. The staff is very easy to work with as well and the students are great.”
Riney has been teaching previously for 2 years. She was an In school Suspension teacher at Zumwalt South Middle school for a year and a half and she also taught American History and World History at Parkway North. This will be her first full year of teaching students. Riney was a bit overwhelmed in the beginning with having to plan lessons, organize her belongings here at North and having to arrange everything so quickly, but she adapted fast and has no worries now for the future.
“I’m very lucky that both districts (Zumwalt and Howell) were so willing to work together to make this switch fairly easy,” Riney said.
