With YouTube, Twitter and Facebook on the rise, it was only a matter of time before an entire show was dedicated to them and their contents. Enter, comedian Daniel Tosh. He hosts Tosh.0, a show that revolves around commenting on videos of stupid things that people do, airing tweets from fans that comment on his show, and challenging his viewers to partake in activities for him to use on the show. Tosh.0 airs on Comedy Central, with a new episode every Wednesday night at 9:30.
Every week, Tosh finds a popular video that features someone doing something particularly funny and gives them their own “Web Redemption”- a chance to give their side of what is going on in the video and redeem themselves. One such redemption was given to a couple of high school girls attempting to recreate the iconic Tom Cruise scene from “Risky Buisness”. In the video, one girl slipped on the floor, and hit her head on the floor. Tosh asked them a few questions about the video, gave them both practice sliding, then gave the sliding shot another chance.
The show even has an interactive website, allowing fans to submit their funny videos in hopes of them running on the show, view tweets from viewers and read blog posts by Tosh. With all types of social networking tied into a humorous show, it’s no wonder Tosh is going on tour this year. Tosh Tour 2010 kicked off just last Friday in Tuscon for a cross country comedy tour. And with two seasons under his belt, Daniel Tosh has become a staple in the comedic taste of high schoolers.
The show is a great show for high school and college age people to watch because of its ties to social networking. Even the name of the show has ties to the web, with a nod towards the online jargon of 2.0. Definitely check out this Comedy Central staple.
