Fall Break is usually a time to relax, unwind, and recover from the first quarter of school, but not for the varsity volleyball players. The volleyball team worked hard everyday over break. They had a game on Homecoming night which caused the players to be late.
“I don’t know if I’m upset because I didn’t get to dance as much as I wanted, or if I’m happy because I got to play volleyball,” Sophomore Maddie Eifert said.
The girls also had a tournament Sunday, and games on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, with another following tournament last Saturday during fall break. With all the games they had the girls only had time for two practices, which were on Wednesday and Friday, the days they didn’t have games.
“I don’t mind them because they keep us prepared,” Eiffert said.
The practices might not have seem that necessary with all the practicing their getting at games, but according to coach Robin Yuede the hardest part of their season is coming up. Minor changes were made to practices over break by making them earlier in the day.
The managers have to attend many of the games, and according to them, they don’t mind.
“It’s great, you get to support your team,” Manager Cara Walter Said.
The freshman team along with the JV volleyball team also watch the varsity girl’s games.
“The captain Kelsey is always so into it, its inspiring to watch,” JV player Liz Leanord said.
The gym was always loud and filled with cheers coming from the “Scream Team” with every point that was scored. The girls work very hard and sacrifice valuable time to put their efforts into volleyball, and it shows in their games.
