On Oct. 29 the Howell North Knights will face off against the Howell Central Spartans in a football game taking place on North’s home turf at 7 p.m.
“I am very excited because Central is our rival,” senior Ethan Bohnert said.
In past years when North has played Central, Central seems to always come out on top.
“Central has basically stolen the games, we’ve quit early and they took advantage of that,” varsity football player Brandon Goggin said.
Goggin has played football for three years at North and is looking forward to the game Friday, especially since it’s senior night.
“This is my last game and I want it to be my best,” Goggin said.
Although North players will admit they mostly depend on Clint Toedtmann, coaches will say otherwise.
“No one in particular is our most valuable player; football is the ultimate team sport and we’ll need everyone to win,” coach Mike Parker, said.
Although the two coaches are supposed rivals they seem to have the same view when it comes to football and team work.
“It is truly a team effort, but our o-line and d-line are our most valuable players and need to play their best for us to be successful,” Head football coach at Central Todd Berck said.
Whether it is a team effort or relying on a star player, both teams are pumped for this game, even the students can see it.
“I think this game is extremely exciting for both schools, I mean we are rivals, this game is practically the game of the year,” Courtney Tebeau, a junior at FHC said.
Neither team is taking this game lightly. They all know that they are playing against their rivals and there is a lot on the line.
“I would like to wish Central good luck during the game because they are going to need it,” varsity football player VJ Goddard said.
