On Oct. 26 all Outdoor Ed classes went on a field trip to Jay Henges shooting range. Jay Henges is located in High Ridge, Missouri, just west of Eureka. Each student shot at a clay pigeon target, using a 20 gauge. After weeks of preparing in the classroom, students finally got to have some hands on experience.
“I have been to shooting ranges a couple of times before, so I knew what I was getting myself into,” junior DJ Bills said, “ But this was a lot better then sitting in the classroom.”
Some of the students came into the field trip either already knowing the basics or most of what they were doing.
“It was an okay time,” junior Taylor Douglas said. “I do this type of stuff all the time with my dad, so to me this wasn’t all that special. But I guess when its your first time going its pretty exciting.”
