Wrestling practice started Monday, Nov. 1 at 2:40 p.m. in the wrestling room. There was a lot more students there this year, a total of 50 students, than last year when they only had 30. One thing about wrestling is they don’t ever have to make cuts. The three coaches for wrestling are coach Ritchie, coach Brown and coach Fowler.
“I have been a coach for 10 years and I just enjoy doing it especially when I see my wrestlers succeed,” said Coach Fowler.
Their first meet is Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 6:00 p.m. at Wentzville Holt. They hope to bring home a win.
“My favorite thing about wrestling is the feeling you get when you win, it’s priceless,” said freshmen Danny Goggin.
Last year, they had seven wrestlers go to state and three of them placed. Jeff Shell placed second, Harold Ritchie placed fourth, and Jason Shell placed sixth. This year they hope to send as many wrestlers as possible to state and have a good number of them place.
“My best achievement last year was when I took second place at the Parkway South tournament,” said Senior Brandon Goggin.
