On Tuesday, Dec. 7 the FHN Guidance Department is hosting Financial Aid/Scholarship Night. The meeting will be open to seniors, juniors, and parents. It will start at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
“They will be able to make better decisions regarding finances. They will understand the financial aid process and be able to find scholarships,” said Mr. Daugherty.
James McDonald, the assistant director of student Financial Aid services at Washington University in St. Louis, will review the financial aid process and answer questions pertaining to the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid).
“I like the idea of it because it could help the families that need it,” said McDonald.
In addition to the financial aid, McDonald will give additional information on scholarship sources and strategies to enhance successful scholarship application.
“I would say there is more people out of work and the price of college is going up.” said Mr. Daugherty.
Since the economic conditions are poor today, there probably will be more interest in the meeting.
