I must first warn you all this is not about actual gingerbread, but instead about the newest version of Android(Android 2.3) that has been dubbed Gingerbread. This new operating system will be premiering soon on the sixteenth of December on the Nexus S phone.
This new version brings many new and improved features. The first of these is the now unified look of the menu and the new keyboard with plenty of neat features. The menu now seems unified under a dark theme with orange highlights. The improved keyboard has been equipped with improved text selection and, as Google itself says, the soft, on-screen keyboard has its keys “reshaped and repositioned for improved targeting.” Which seems quite a comfort for Android users who enjoy texting. So pretty much everyone who owns one.
Another new feature that takes little explanation is the added capability of VOIP on the phone itself without the aid of apps. Although, I suppose carriers may have some say in your use of your own phone here.
There is also a new market being developed for apps on Android; though, I have not much more info than that. Although, i would assume they will try and fix the searching issues. In addition, the phone gives you detailed reports on battery and memory data. All this just in time for Christmas.
