Beastly by Alex Flinn is, on the most basic levels, a rewrite of Beauty and the Beast for modern times. This is why I picked it up in the first place. However, I got a surprise when I began to read Beastly because while the idea of the story is the same, not much else resembles Jan Brett’s children’s book. This is definitely for people our age, with all the romance and action teen books have these days. I really did love this book, I even did a project on it for English Pre-AP last year. You should definitely find time to read it. If you’re interested there will be a movie made. Unfortunately it is starring Vanessa Hudgens; so I apologize for those of you who don’t find her particularly talented. Anyways, read Beastly and enjoy!
