Stephan King’s book The Stand is most likely the longest book I have ever read. However, it is also the most in-depth and most fully developed of any book I have read. I really did like this book but it will take a long time to get through. It is basically a war between good and evil in a post-apocalyptic world if you strip everything away and something I would highly recommend you to read. To give you an idea about The Stand without giving anything away is difficult but I’ll try. It starts off showing you how the superflu gets out. Then you follow some of the survivors as they try to find others and start a community. There are, of course, complications. Randall Flagg is in Las Vegas trying to undermine these survivors. There are several characters whom you get to see through their eyes such as General Starkey, Randall Flagg, Stuart Redman, Frannie Goldsmith, Harold Lauder, Glen Bateman, Larry Underwood, Nadine Cross, Nick Andros, Tom Cullen, and more. These are just some of the more prominent characters in The Stand. They made a movie of it a few years back, it is ok but the book is better. Check it out and let me know.
