Now, I was a little bit “iffy” when I heard that songs from Tamar Kaprelian’s CD Sinner or a Saint were featured on the soundtrack for The Hills television show, a show that’s main claim to fame is rich girls doing rich girl things and fighting, generally over guys. I’ll admit that with that sort of information, I was expecting something along the lines of Paris Hilton’s “Stars are Blind” or Heidi Montag’s “Superficial.” So, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Kaprelian has a gorgeous voice and amazing lyrics. The album starts off with the song “New Day” which is one of my favorites and a catchy piece telling the tale of how tomorrow will be better. The title track “Sinner or a Saint” didn’t rank too high in my opinion but I honestly feel that that song is probably one of the only songs I disliked on this album. If soulful pop and piano are your sort of thing, I’d suggest picking up Sinner or a Saint, and even if they’re not, still give it a listen; you might be pleasantly surprised, I know I was.
