The Francis Howell North Color Guard placed first in their competition on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Eureka High School. They competed against Francis Howell and Washington and placed first in all three captions (equipment, movement, and general effect) bringing their overall score to 70.6 points.
“What really counts is the overall score,”said senior Kayleen Lindstrom. “The second and third place schools could still win overall if their points total higher.”
This is the Color Guards second competition this year, they placed second in their first competition this year. They have credited their many practices, both after school and before competitions, along with their great teamwork, to their recent success at competition.
“I think we did so well because we practice nine hours a week and we have a good group this year, we all get along and work together to do great,” said senior Megan O’ Loughlin.
Although the recent snow days has set the team back with their practices they are still hopeful that they will continue to improve.
“We just want to keep getting better and doing better than we did last competition,” said junior Samantha Best.
