Recently I was introduced to a website called Wolfram Alpha. This website is awesome. You can search almost any problem or subject, whether they be math or science, and it will come up with the answer or information respectively. The not-so-obvious but really neat thing about this site is that it isn’t purely a database, the website answers you based on your query. Of course that means the user must be more specific with its question. Another neat thing about the site is that it shows its work. You could put in an Algebra problem and it will give you the answer and show you every step it took to get there.
Essentially, Wolfram Alpha is a website to answer your questions. In a way it is like Google, but instead of searching through 9,000,000 hits to find the right answer it gives it to you right there in one place. Many believe it to be a threat to Google; however, I don’t think that is necessarily true. Google has such a huge range now that search, although its central component, is not everything. Ironically, Sergey Brin of Google worked as an intern for Wolfram Research.
