“When our team is down, we have a couple words that we like to say in a huddle,” junior Erin Powelson said. “It makes us laugh but also pump us up.”
The varsity girls basketball team didn’t need pumping up after their 46-40 win against their rival, the Francis Howell High Lady Vikings.
The Knights played the Vikings at home on Monday, Feb. 14. This was their last home game of the season. The Knights now have a record of 10-11.
“They were a great team,” Powelson said. “We just hustled a lot more than them.”
The Lady Knight’s basketball team worked hard as a team and played really well together to beat Howell. They used the strategy of shutting down Howell’s high scorers.
“The whole team worked together, and we do so well when we work together,” freshman Madison Gilliam said. “Winning this game gave us all more confidence in the team.”
The Lady Knights play one more scheduled season game, against Duchesne, and then move on to districts. Districts will be played at Fort Zumwalt East where their first game is against for Zumwalt South.
