“I’ve never seen him that happy or excited before,” senior Dan McGraw said.
He had good reason to be. On that night, his fourth seeded team upset first seed Fort Zumwalt South 65-60 in the Class 5, District 8 semi-final. By doing so, they earned their first birth to a District final in ten years.
The Knights had to beat Fort Zumwalt East 60-33 two days before in order to even play FZS, who took them to overtime in their game. They will next play the second seed Fort Zumwalt North tonight at FZE; tip off will be at 7:00. FZN’s offense is lead by freshman Chaz Glotta, who averages 18.5 points per game, and who also will be the Knights primary target come game time tonight.
“Our goal is to shut him down and prevent him from getting his numbers,” McGraw said. “If we can do that, then we have a good shot at winning.
