The game starts off at a museum you see a bright blue flash and a woman runs Museum the camera pans out and capital Ecto-1B roles right out of the firehouse. The unique thing about this game is you play as a new recruit whose job it is to test all the new equipment that Egon and Ray helped to develop. The first actual part of game play is trying to catch slimer. You follow Egon and Ray down to the cellar where you see slimer staring at the containment unit. Ray tells you to blast him and you end up destroying the containment unit. Not only do you destroy the containment unit bought you let out another ghost. You and Ray go to the depths of the firehouse where you enter the tutorial level of the game. During the tutorial you learn how your proton pack works and that all of the information you need is shown on the pack. You end up losing slimer but you catch the other ghost. After Egon fixes the containment unit you head the Sedgewick Hotel from the first Ghostbusters movie. At the Sedgewick you and the other Ghostbusters (except for Winston) go to the elevator and head up. At the top floor you Dr. Venkman and Ray search through each hallway and try to catch slimer. When you are not able to find slimer you and the rest of the Ghostbusters head to the bottom floor and find it crawling with ghosts. After the ghosts are caught you and Venkman head to the dining room of the hotel to catch him. This is one of my favorite parts in the game because it shows how much freedom you really have. If you want you can destroy all the tables, chairs, food, and anything else in the dining room or choose to keep it clean its a lot fun and shows how much time and effort was put into this game. After you catch slimer you are forced to catch a fisherman ghost. when you finally do catch him Venkman gets a call from Winston saying that an old friend is back just as you see the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man walk right by the window. You and the gang head outside and fight your way through ghosts, gargoyles, and marshmallow minions. After you chase Stay Puff you enter a random hotel and rescue a random woman (insert your own Mario joke here.) After all that work you find yourself back at the fire house. Want to find out more then check out the game because I’m not going to spoil it for you.
The game is amazing, the story takes place just two years after the second movie and is able to use new ideas with out screwing up the continuity. The creators of this game went to lengths as to get the original actors to play the parts. The level design and character development are creative and done by that of nothing less than professionals. Although this game is great it does have its share of flaws. For instance on the playstation 3 if you try and enter a cheat code you can not only erase all your save data but also cause the game not to save at all. The Nintendo Wii version is even worse, if anyone has seen the cover they can tell. On the Wii the characters look worse than there TV show cousins, the motion control is broken, and the graphics are not that impressive. Over all this is a game I recommend to any fans of the original movies and I award this game an 8 out of 10.
