Now, as anyone who has heard Adele knows, she has an amazing voice. It’s gorgeous and really folksy, but very strong. She was coming off a hit first album, and there were high expectations for this new one, and I can say that it does not disappoint. It features the single “Rolling in the Deep.” It’s a lyrical tale of vengeance on an ex- lover, and it’s not too bad. She is reminiscent of Duffy or Amy Winehouse, in my opinion. Adele’s voice is a lot more soulful than Duffy’s and I think better sounding than Winehouse. It’s the same style of music though; the big band sound in the back and the trio of background singers are all present.
However, there are always multiple artists in a certain genre of music, and Adele is definitely at the top of her peer group. And you have got to hear her cover of the Cure’s “Lovesong” that is the last track on the album. Other standouts on this album are “Turning Tables” and “Set Fire to the Rain.”
