You know what grinds my gears? People who make Karl Marx out to be a “bad guy.”
When Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote the Communist Manifesto, their aim was not the USSR, Josef Stalin, or mass murder. Their goal was simply to establish a Utopia or classless society, true equality.
Working in a grocery store allows for one to take in many different people on their soapboxes and cynical accusations on what they think the government should do to change. One man’s argument stuck out to me particularly. He insisted that Barak Obama was a Marxist.
I would agree, but this man conveyed his argument in a negative context.
For one thing, prior to President Obama, the United States government had blatantly fulfilled 8 of the 10 planks in the communist manifesto. Don’t believe me? Do some research you’ll, be surprised. Some even go as far as saying the constitution actually fulfilled all 10 of the planks.
Here’s an example:
Plank 3: Removal of rights to inheritance.
American Society: In 1916, the United States government enacted the estate tax. This tax actually restricts, and sometimes eliminates, the money or property inherited in the event of a family member’s death.
Plank 10: Education for all children in public schools shall be free, and the abolition of child labor shall be compulsory.
American Society: Various laws and doctrine have been passed since the early 1900’s and the late 1800’s to establish arbitrary education for all.
So who’s more the marxist? Obama or the constitution?
In all fairness, don’t stroll into a grocery store supported by a union and try to discredit a democratic candidate, when blue collar workers will generally be democrat, in addition to making hasty accusations. It’s like walking into a Star Trek convention, while wearing a Storm Trooper costume.
