April 29-30, members of FHN’s band and choir attended the State Solo and Ensemble competition at Mizzou. Students perform by themselves or with their ensemble to receive scores of one, two or three, with a one being the highest ranking.
“I think it’s a good playing experience,” Senior and band member Emily Mulawa said. “It’s really nice getting feedback from the judges because they see it from a whole different perspective.”
To attend the State level of the competition, the student or group must have scored a one at the District level. FHN’s scores at State were high with Aaron Johnson, Robert Lindsey and Olivia Davis achieving ones on their solos.
“It’s just a fun weekend,” Senior and band member Lexi Kaatman said. “And I got a two, so I think it went pretty well.”
