After nine months of construction, the new science wing is nearly complete. This summer, the finishing touches, such as Smartboards, are being added to the $3.5 million expansion. The addition includes a new outdoor parking area, new bathrooms and five new classrooms.
“I think it will be a lot better,” junior Sarah Luebbert said. “We will have a lot more room to do our labs.”
Currently, the teachers who will be receiving new rooms are preparing for the move.
“New moves are always exciting,” Biology teacher Laura Montgomery said.“There’s always a lot of work.”
The teachers moving rooms must have all of their classroom belongings packed up and ready to move before the end of the school year. The second week of June, movers will transport the boxes into the new classrooms, three of which are Chemistry rooms, one of which is a Biology room and one regular classroom.
“The rooms are bigger,” construction manager Jeremy Boettler said. “They have state of the art technology, all the newest and greatest furnishing to help the kids learn in a safe manner.”
Such new technologies include a new ventilation system, lights designed specifically to use with a Smartboard and outlets for other technology
.“I couldn’t be happier [the construction is almost complete],” Boettler said. “I’m looking forward for the school to move in and utilize them.”
