Starting July 1, FHSD will switch the soda brands in the vending machines from Pepsi to Coke products. The Board of Education approved this five-year contract with Coke on March 31 at a board meeting. Coke won by offering FHN 41p percent of all profits compared to Pepsi’s offer of 36 percent.
“I think there’s more excitement that Coke is coming in than Pepsi going out,” FHSD director for purchased services Mike Sloan said. “Some people may be happy while others may be disappointed.”
FHN will have new brands such as Diet Coke, Minute Maid and Vitamin Water. Though prices will stay the same for the first two years, they may change depending on the economy.
“I think it should be how it was last year- just one solid dollar,” senior Zackari Mathews said. “I think it’d be great if they didn’t make Coke diet.”
