When most people think of Aladdin they think of the traditional Disney story. Instead of performing the Disney version of Aladdin, FHN’s Intensified Theatre class decided to perform “The Magical Lamp of Aladdin” on May 16th and 17th at 9:30 a.m. This version of Aladdin has a slightly different plot line and also new characters that are being played by 25 students, Aladdin being played by Jeremey Hyatt, with the help of about 7 crew members.
“It teaches kids that not all Disney stories are the same as the original and it just gives kids a different perspective on things,” drama teacher Jeff Tandler said.
The show has been opened up to the elementary schools in the district. Both Henderson and Central elementary schools have 235 first graders and 45 kids from Henderson elementary Vacation Station to attend the show over the two days.
“I’m most excited to perform the show for the little kids and also to see if they really enjoy watching it just as much as I did performing,” junior and cast member Catherine Burke said.
