English III students in Tracy Wuertenberg’s class are doing a different kind of end-of-the-year project. Instead of making posters and PowerPoints, students are making websites. Students were given a choice of one of six novels: Red Badge of Courage, Things Fall Apart, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Rapture of Canaan, Ender’s Game, and Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe.
“I chose Ender’s Game because it sounded really interesting and I thought that it would be entertaining,” junior Jaxon Nagel said.
Students then made groups of four and read and discussed their novel, which they would be making their website based on. The website is required to have a homepage with the title and author, an about the author page, and pages with plot, theme, character, book discussion questions, and a review of the novel.
“I hope to get a better understanding of the book and the author’s purpose,” junior Kelsey Bell said.
