Anxiously awaiting the arrival of artist Zack Smithey, viewers critique and compliment the artwork surrounding them. Smithey is showcasing his new series- “Materialization of Sound.”
The series consists of visual representations of sounds made by various instruments. Although this is a new series, the type of art doesn’t faze Smithey.
“The act of creating art is the most important part,” Smithey said. “It doesn’t really matter what I’m doing. I have to cater the type of art that I’m making to fit the mood I’m in.”
Smithey has always known he wanted to have a career in art. He’s has been interested in art as long as he can remember.
“It’s just who I am,” Smithey said. “It’s like waking up in the morning and asking why did I decide to breathe today.”
Art show director Bryan Bease agrees that Smithey won’t stop creating artwork.
“I think he’s ensuring his future by the drive he has,” Bease said. “It is [not] like the musicians that have one hit, they just play it over and over for years. Zack isn’t that, he will always create until the day he dies.”
