From the very beginning of the game it was a tight match between the FHN Knights Varsity basketball team and Hazelwood West.
Each team scored one point one after another. The score was 8-8 and Blake Shambro catched a rebound, threw it up and Kyle Lemons who dunks the ball. Fans were jumping on the court and the whole bench were on their feet cheering Kyle on.
“I thought it was awesome,” senior Ryan Jeppeson said. The score became 9-8,Knights. The Knights and fans stayed pumped during the whole first quarter. The score remained close through the first quarter,but then Hazelwood stole the lead. The Knights started to trail as the second quarter went on, but the Knights didn’t loose spirtit.
Even with all their spirtit and efforts, the Knights still trailed Hazelwood at half time. Varsity Knightline was scheduled to perform during half-time and after a few technical difficulties, they put on a holiday routine for everyone who attended the game. The Knights came out of half-time with some determination.
The Knights came close to tieing the game but as the fourth quarter wrapped up, they were still behind.
“I think for the next game we need to work on eliminating turnovers and offensive rebounds,” junior Andrew Raguini said. “If we work out the kinks on the offensive plays, we will start winning games.”
The final score at the end of the night was 48-76.
