This Saturday, from 7 a.m. to noon, the ACT is being held at FHN. This is the first time the test is being offered in 2012.
“I hope it’s not as hard as everyone makes it seem,” junior Alexis Wiedner said.
Most colleges use the ACT as a measure of potential college success. The national average score is 21 but this does not guarantee anything.
“My goal when taking the ACT is to achieve a score of at least 30,” junior Kyle Parren said.
In order to prepare for the ACT, some students take the Cambridge Review course. Some students chose not to study.
“I did not study the first time I took the ACT,” junior Bridgette Witte said.
While the February ACT is the first offered this year, there are several other test dates in the upcoming months.
“The ACT is given five times a year,” Barker said. “I recommend students take it at least twice during their junior year.”
The next ACT is on April 14 and registration for that one ends on March 9. Late fees will be required from March 10-23. The test after that is June 9 and registration for that one ends May 4. Late fees will be required from May 5-18.
