From this season for track and field you can expect a very strong and confident track team getting ready for the anticipated season.
Track practice starts right after school and lasts till about 4:30 everyday.
“Track and field practice is fun,” varsity hurdler, DJ Curtis said, “But practice can sometimes be hard and you just have to push yourself harder.”
The track and field team has a meet against themselves March 15 here at FHN. There first official meet is March 19 against Francis Howell and Francis Howell Central. Some of the varsity runners like Curtis are kind of nervous but still confident.
“Yes, I’m kind of nervous but overall I know I’m going to do well because I’m a beast,” Curtis said.
Dr. Greg Hennenfent, also known as Doc, is the head coach for the track and field team here at FHN. He as an influence on every event that the players participate in.
“ I get excited about every single event because every one has its on inity,” Hennenfent said, “Its not like basketball or football its different for each event.”
Anxiety isn’t a problem for varsity sprinter Patrick Jenkins.
“No, I do not because I’m not scared, I’m confident, I’m not scared of anybody,” Jenkins said.
Players are also excited and cannot wait for the upcoming season.
“Ya I am super excited,” said Jenkins, “I can’t wait to do something that involves competition.”
Players are very confident about their team and how well they will do in the upcoming seasons.
“I think my team will succeed because we have a lot of athletic people,” Jenkins said.
The track and field team has to stay very determined and committed to their events that they participate in.
“I just keep pushing myself harder and harder,” Curtis said.
Hennenfent is excited for the upcoming season.
