Steven Deckard is a freshman and is playing on North’s JV baseball team. Deckard has played nine years of baseball, and this is his first year playing with the high school. He plays 3rd base, shortstop, and pitches. Deckard has had to make some adjustments now that he is playing on the JV team.
“I think the biggest struggle to getting adjusted to playing JV ball was just playing everyday,” Deckard said.
Overall, Deckard said that his experience on JV so far this year has been positive.
“I like [playing on JV],” Deckard said. “I think it’s more fun than freshman because we don’t have to run as much and I like the coach. He’s fun to be around but he’s serious when he needs to be.”
Deckard personally attributes his success so far this year and one of the reasons to being chosen to move up to his versatility.
“I have been able to contribute to the team by playing any position that the coach and the team needs me to play,” Deckard said.
