Art is the realization and communication of those beautiful and inherently intangible thoughts of the human mind. I personally find poetry to be one of the best art forms. In poetry, we can delve deep into ourselves and reap the benefits of our discoveries unto those around us. Make sense? Perhaps not. But that is because you cannot explain poetry. Billy Collins, however, explains how to interpret poetry very well, in his Introduction to Poetry. He explains poetry, not in a pithy explanation of a scientific approach, but though poetry. Funny how that works.
However, poetry can not be used as a primary form of writing. It appeals to a select audience. It is particularly useful when dealing with sensitive topics. I have provided a short piece of my own below. Do enjoy.
Pretty Woman
Once upon a time
in a land not so far far away
lived a girl who wanted
to be saved by a white knight,
or a black knight, or a Hispanic knight,
so she get could get away,
far far away
Mary went away,
far far away,
and left her parents,
and left her friends,
and left her name
once upon a time in
the City of Lights
electric rose in full bloom
