Thursday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium, StuCo will host the annual Mr. FHN competition. In the weeks leading up to the pageant the students participating have been raising money for charity. In previous years, each individual found their own charity to donate to, but this year all of the proceeds will be going to The American Cancer Society in honor of Mrs. Bartell.
“We wanted to put it in honor of Mrs. Bartell because she’s a great teacher, and we all love her and wanted to do something special for her,” junior and StuCo member, Ashley Flerlage, said.
The contestants will be scored in four different categories: Q and A, formal wear, casual wear, and a talent. The judges will also take into consideration the amount of money the guys raised. Volunteers from all grades are allowed to participate and clubs can send a representative to compete in the pageant as well. For some of the contestants, the most difficult part has been picking a talent to perform. Senior Jake Hurrel has been practicing his talent which he shared is an “interpretative long snapping dance”.
“I thought it would be a perfect opportunity for me to get to do what I love most, make a fool of myself,” senior, Nick Pirrone, said.
With all of the hard work StuCo members and contestants have been doing in preparation for Mr. FHN, they can’t wait for the big day. Flerlage is excited to see the final project, all of the performances, and how Mrs. Bartell reacts to it.
“I am most excited to go on stage with my friends and act like fools,” Pirrone said.
