Homecoming, usually held in October, is nearly a whole month early this year. With Sept 15 now quickly approaching, Student Council rushes to get homecoming preparations in order.
“The change of date has made things even more stressful because we have to get everything done in a much much shorter amount of time.” StuCo officer Ashley Butterfield said.
The early date was caused by the lack of home games that North has this year. Having a mere 4 home games with 2 landing over Fall Break left no options for the school district concerning the date.
“It sucks because since we didn’t have enough time to get all the representatives and members sorted, the cabinet and officers have had to make decisions without consulting the general members. That really goes against what StuCo is all about.” president Austin Weidner said.
However, not all negative has come from the situation. According to Student Council Secretary Hannah Brown in an interview, the pressure to begin early helped with efficiency and produced fresher ideas even though the early date is more difficult.
“I think ultimately although it’s stressful that it’s early, it’ll be nice to have it out of the way to focus on our other events in the school year.” advisor Shelly Parks said.
