On Oct. 30 the Rec Plex held boys swimming GACs, along with boys diving on Oct. 31, followed by swimming finals on Nov.1.
“It’s fun getting to see all the kids working hard.” Assistant coach Chip Crow said, ” And GACs are a lot more competitive.”
The team has a total of 11 boys on the team, most of which are new swimmers. There are six freshmen, three sophomores and two seniors on the team. Because of the small size of the team the coaches can not fill all of the events and relays. Crow expected the team to get eighth or ninth place out of nine teams.
“I dropped all my times at GACs.” Ben Moxley said, ”And I had fun competing with all my teammates.”
Sophomore Sean Pirrone qualified for finals in the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard butterfly. Brandon Sandbothe also qualified for finals in the 50 yard freestyle.
“GACs was a lot of fun.” Pirrone said, “I’m very proud of myself and my whole team.”
This year a new app was used to keep times called meet mobile. this app is free, after downloading it just type in GACs in the search and you can get all the stats from any school, any swimmer or any event at GACs.
“It was a lot of fun to get to swim with the best of the best from the high schools.” Danny Helvey said.
