Today in first hour, in a special announcement, Dr. Jones informed FHN that our school was named the ninth best Science Department in Missouri. This ranking was determined by last year’s Sophomore EOC test scores.
“Out of 436 students who took the test, only 12 scored below the basic level. That is just incredible,” said Francis Howell North Head Principal Dr. Darlene Jones. “We have such wonderful teachers in the Science departments, and the kids just did great under their instruction.”
The announcement gave the Science Department the recognition they deserve for their hard work. Dr. Jones mentioned each Science teacher by name, and towards the end of her announcement, included Mr. Travis in the commendation.
“I also want to mention how well our other departments did. Out of every school in the county, we have the third best math department, we are second best in communication arts, and second in the science department. That’s a huge accomplishment.” said Dr. Jones.
The science department also has the second best test scores in St. Charles County. She made the announcement after touching on the fact that this week was Education Week.
“It was a very positive week,” said Dr. Jones. “After I received the news last night, I thought it would be a great way to close out such a productive American Education Week.”
