Nov. 26-28, the girls Varsity basketball team will be playing in a tournament at Orchard Farm. Their first game is at 5:00 p.m. on Monday night against Granite City.
“We’re all really excited to finally start playing.” Junior, Jessie Moceri said. “I think we will do well.”
The team practices six days a week and works hard at every practice making sure they know the plays and are prepared for the upcoming tournament.
“We practice our defense and guarding tall post.” Junior, Kaitlin Isbell said.
This is the first time the team is playing in the tournament and the competition will be tough. Teams like West and Troy will be hard to beat.
“I think if we stay confident and work as hard as we do at practices we will be fine.” Senior, Allison McDonell said.
With this being the first game of the season, the players are not only excited to play, but to also bond with teammates.
“I’m excited to just spend time with everyone on the team.” Moceri said, “It should be fun.”
The teams expectations for this week are high. Their going into the tournament with a good attitude.
“I want a first place medal.” Isbell said, “And to show people we are a different team from last year.”
