The start of December marks the start of the Christmas season. National Honor Society members will be working at Becky David Elementary on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for Becky David’s annual Breakfast With Santa.
“I always had fun with it when I was little and it’s fun for the kids,” junior NHS member Krista Burris said. “It kind of makes me feel like a kid again.”
FHN’s Winter Guard again this year asked if volunteers from NHS would like to help with the event. NHS members who volunteer at the event will receive points that go towards their required service hours.
“I love working with children and I thought it would be a great way to volunteer and spread holiday joy,” junior NHS member Courtney Vishy said.
Students will help by setting up for the event, serving breakfast, playing games, and other fun activities for the visiting children. Santa Claus himself will be there to take pictures with the visiting families.
“I think it will go pretty good because everyone is in a decent mood this time of year and who doesn’t love Santa? Everyone loves Santa,” Vishy said.
Leading up to the event, NHS members prepare themselves for a day of Christmas festivities where they are encouraged to dress in holiday attire. Last year’s Breakfast With Santa was a successful event and students this year are excited to see the happy children.
“It starts the holiday season and brings everyone together,” senior NHS member Maddie Eifert said. “I think people will have fun playing games and seeing Santa Claus.”
