As the lights go out and the spotlight comes on, emcees John Hallemeier and Liz Condon walk onto the stage to introduce the first act. The curtains are pulled back and the 2012 Mock Rock theme is revealed — “Mock Rock Baby.”
“We wanted to do a throwback theme and we wanted to kick it old school,” StuCo Cabinet member Hannah Brown said.
11 acts performed throughout the night to a varying from High School Musical to The Lonely Island. Some acts were performed as a solo while others were performed by a group. Some people took on the role to be in more than one performance.
“I enjoyed the music they played and the choreography was creative this year,” said Mock Rock attendee Maddie Richterkessing.
When all the performances were over a group of judges came together to pick their top three favorite acts. Performers were anxious to find out the results of the show.
“I had so many butterflies because I had my family and boyfriend in the audience,” Senior Kailee Schott said.
Third place was awarded to Senior Tyler Stevenson for his Justin Bieber performance. Second place was awarded to Senior Matt Miller and Juniors Brock Birkner, Joey Henry, Stone Birkner, and Rain Northrop for their Bohemian Rhapsody performance. First place was awarded to Seniors Zach Ksiazek, Kailee Schott, Morgan Robben, Catie Blake, Kelly Gannon, and Braxton Perry for their Hairspray performance.
“I thought the performance went amazing,” Schott said. “I had tears of joy, I was so proud of everyone.”
