The Rapture are an indie dance pop band based in New York. Last year, the band dropped their monumental fourth album In the Grace of Your Love, which had to be one of my favorites of the year. From the groove of the opening track, to the pounding accordion-accompanied beat of “Come Back To Me” to the silliness of “Rollercoaster” and the anthemic chorus of “Children”, the album certainly doesn’t disappoint. It’s something of a soundtrack to driving through the night with friends.
While it might not tower over the rest, one of the coolest songs on the album is the opening track, “Sail Away”. To begin, the vocals of singer Luke Jenner easily soar over a steady dance groove laid down by drummer Vito Roccoforte. Then, Jenner hits the chorus and you can just feel the energy he pounds into the words. It’s something I’d really like to see live. The band must have a blast playing this one, jumping around and throwing their fists into the sky. It’s just a really fun tune.
I love this song and will come back to it every time I remember to. It’s just so huge and awesome. It’s also a really good definition of the album. Energetic grooves and soaring vocals that are just a whole lot of joy.
